Description
SCO from the Shell-operated Scotford Upgrader (20% Shell Canada / 80% CNRL). OSM (updated Jun 2026): operating; 328,000 bbl/d SCO; LC-Fining; products Premium Albian Synthetic (PAS, ~31–32° API) and Albian Heavy Synthetic (AHS, ~19.5° API); feedstock bitumen from Muskeg River and Jackpine. Company Scotford page: hydrogen-addition upgrading of bitumen from oil sands mines north of Fort McMurray produces light synthetic crude and other medium- to heavy-crude products; much of the crude produced at the upgrader is used by the adjacent Shell Scotford Refinery. Jan 2025 Shell/CNRL swap: Shell fully exits AOSP mining; remains operator of the upgrader and Quest CCS. CNRL already lists the 80% non-operated interest — this page is Shell's 20% plus operatorship. Refinery gasoline, diesel and jet marketed across Western Canada are not this desk. No sentence that leftover SCO is sold outside Canada. Not 2714 tar sands.
