- Named waste-to-methanol from non-recyclable municipal solid waste and residues (bio / circular / sustainable methanol for transportation fuel and chemicals). Edmonton commercial-scale demo produced methanol from 2016 (ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS); mill retired 30 Jan 2024 after 15,000+ hours and is in decommissioning — not operating. Westbury demo methanol from 2011; site is now the Innovation Center, not a selling mill. May produce: company EOI pipeline of new projects for 1,000,000 t/yr sustainable methanol offtake (non-binding LOI; no named Canadian mill in that pipeline). Ecoplanta Spain (Repsol; ~240,000 t/yr; FID Jan 2025) uses Enerkem technology — not stored as Canadian tonnes. Extra industrial-chemicals as circular chemical.
